Top 6 reasons to work out regularly
Government, health authorities and specialised TV programmes are telling us how good exercise is for our well-being, but sometimes they forget to tell us why we have to do it. As a nearly-exercise-addict I will tell you my top 6 reasons to work out regularly, besides maintaining weight loss or burning calories.
1. Lift your mood, feel happier. “Don’t worry, be happy”
If you exercise regularly, you will lift your mood. Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed. You just need to incorporate a quick workout into your daily routine and you will be well on your way. Make exercise a habit!
2. Reduce stress. “Dear stress, let’s break up”
We live in a world with continuous stress: work, family, debts, appearance… Many studies have shown that exercise is the perfect way to reduce stress, so why don’t you try to make room for working out? If you do not have time to join a gym, try to exercise at home with an exercise bike or a folding treadmill, you will see your stress reduced.
3. Build self-esteem, confidence. “You are perfect exactly as you are”
You will feel better about your appearance and yourself when you exercise regularly, which can boost your confidence and improve your self-esteem because you are perfect just as the way you are and exercising may help you to remind it.
4. Keep brain and body healthy. “The chief function of the body is to carry the brain around” (Thomas Edison)
Exercise not just helps you to get a nice body figure and be fit, it also helps your brain to get more energy and oxygen which will boost your memory and keep your brain healthy. Plus it increases productivity and creative thinking.
5. Boost your immune system. “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live in”
Weather keeps changing every day, we pass from a perfect sunny day to a miserable rainy day, with this sudden weather changes we may get a cold. If we incorporate exercising to our daily routine, we will have less risk of get a cold that people who do not work out.
6. Increases sex drive and satisfaction. “It’s been a long day. I need one of those hugs that turns into sex”
The good feeling that you get after exercising may have a positive effect on your sex life. Do I have your attention yet? Well, regular physical activity can lead to enhanced arousal for women and decrease men’s risk for erectile dysfunction.
