Maintaining your Holiday Fitness Levels Once you have Returned Home

Introducing Fitness your Holiday

holiday fitness

You do not realise it but you are more likely to increase the amount of exercise you have whilst you are on holiday. Whether you are swimming in a pool in sunny Tenerife or walking the coastal paths of the English countryside you will have benefited from some form of physical activity.

Sometimes just exploring small villages and towns or walking to the nearest pub whilst we are on our holidays can have beneficial effects on our health. Walking is a great form of exercise that can be carried out at your own pace.

You are free to stop and have a rest and maybe a cream tea before continuing on your journey. A great way to keep yourself motivated whilst out walking is to set yourself goals, pick out a destination or item in the distance and aim for it then once you have reached your intended goal find another spot in the distance and keep going.

Your body will let you know when it has had enough. If you are not normally much of a walker start out slow and walk just short distances until you feel comfortable going a little further.

Motivation and Inspiration

Exploring the English Countryside is a great way to improve your stamina, work on your leg muscles and keep yourself fit and active. Try visiting a place you have never been to and challenge yourself with different terrains whether it be fields, beaches or pavements. If like myself you are a dog owner then there is no better excuse to get out for a couple of hours and not only exercise yourself but also your dog.

Keep yourself challenged and enjoy the view

Keep your walks varied don’t just opt for the easy route. It may be hard to walk up that hill but remember what goes up must come down and I’m sure the views from the top of any hill will be worth it. Walking on a slight incline is softer on your joints that walking on a flat surface and although it is harder you will be burning more calories and improving your cardiovascular system.

Maintaining your walking regime once home

Although the nights are getting darker and the temperature has dropped you can still maintain your new walking regime. If you are not put off by the British weather then try walking to your local shops instead of using the car or the bus or alternatively join a local walking group so you are not on your own.

If however the weather does put you off why not try a home treadmill. A home treadmill will allow you to work out in the comfort of your own home and at a time that suits you. It is a one of cost unlike gym memberships and local groups. You can control your pace and how hard you work out.

Why not try a home treadmill to help boost your confidence when walking and increase your stamina and endurance. It could be you are walking today but with a little practice and determination newt week you could be jogging.
