A guide to choosing a home treadmill
Having the right home treadmill is a smart investment for incorporating fitness into your everyday lifestyle and is great for getting cardio exercise from the comfort of your home.
Here at JLL Fitness, we supply quality folding treadmills that will be just what you need for your fitness journey. We have created this handy guide to help you make your decision on which treadmill is right for you.
Benefits of Owning a Folding treadmill:
Having your treadmill at home comes with plenty of benefits. Firstly, using a running machine is one of the most effective methods of cardiovascular exercise, improving overall fitness and burning calories.
Secondly, there will be no running outdoors in the elements, hoping that it doesn’t rain; with no excuses, you can focus on your workout without any other worries.
Another benefit is monitoring your progress, which is very important to achieve your goals. Our home treadmill allows for accurate tracking of workouts, including speed, distance, time, heart rate and calories burnt.
Lastly, the treadmill will tailor your workout and allow you to customise your workout plan by altering speed and incline, making sure you get the exercise you need.
Choosing your workout space and treadmill size
Our folding treadmills are great if you have limited space as they have a small occupying space and can be folded away easily or moved to different locations with their accessible transport wheels.
All our treadmills use the same system, where the running track pivots up to almost a vertical position to free up floor space with the easy-to-use hydraulic arm. A bonus to this feature is that it also comes with a gentle soft drop when folded or unfolded.
In all the treadmill listings on our website, you will find their dimensions when folded and unfolded. This information will be helpful when measuring the space, you will have for your treadmill to be placed.
Our newest T550 treadmill has the largest width and length when unfolded, although folds up to almost the same width as the T350. The T350 is the smaller model in terms of running area and occupying space, which would be handy if you are short on space.
Understanding the elements of your home treadmill
Why is motor power essential for my home treadmill?
In general, a treadmills motor will power the running belt. For walking up to running, you should find a treadmill with higher horsepower. All our treadmills have a continuous power rating of 2.5hp and a peak power of 4.5hp, which is more than enough power for different speeds and user weight.
All our treadmills come with a 5-year motor cover warranty for peace of mind.
Our range of treadmills come with pre-set workout programs, with some of our treadmills featuring custom programs.
T350 Folding Treadmill- 20 running programs, 3 custom programs and a heart rate program
S300 Folding Treadmill- 15 running programs, 3 custom programs and a heart rate program
S400 Folding Treadmill- 15 running programs, 3 custom programs and a heart rate program
T450 Folding Treadmill- 20 running programs and a heart rate program
T550 Folding Treadmill- 30 running programs
The programs included help support different exercise goals you choose to do. Examples are endurance training and weight loss training. The program will automatically control the speed and adjust its incline/decline if part of the program.
A change in the incline of your treadmill can drastically increase the challenge of a workout without altering the speed.
Our treadmills have a 20 Level Incline that accelerates your workout and weight loss. The auto-incline feature comes at the touch of a button. On the handrail, you can adjust your elevation with the incline buttons within easy reach.
Most of our folding home treadmills have a maximum user weight of 120kg (18.89 St). Although, our newest addition to our treadmills is the T550 which has a maximum user weight of 150kg (23.62st).
Storage and portability
The treadmills are ideal for anyone looking to purchase with limited space in mind. All our models have built-in transport wheels that allow them easy mobility.
Our machines come with a soft drop system. This feature allows the treadmill to be unfolded smoothly, without a thud at the end.
The different features we provide on our home treadmill
Our range of treadmills offers different monitors and functions. Depending on what you would like to get out of your treadmill, we would recommend looking at what the monitors can provide.
As standard, most of the monitors are back-lit with no raised buttons with a touch-sensitive, pressure point equipped console. This feature is long-lasting as there are no buttons for wear and tear.
The monitors will allow you to see time, distance, speed, calories, and heart rate. There will also be the option to change settings on the console itself. One option is quick speed, activating this will accelerate you to the speed specified, or a quick incline that will have the same effect.
We boast a variety of entertainment features that our high-end treadmills come equipped with, this includes the T450 and T550 that come with heart rate bands. The T550 also includes the option to connect to apps to track your progress.
The features for our treadmills include-
- Heart rate band compatibility
- High powered speakers
- USB interfaces
- Bluetooth connectivity
- App connectivity (Zwift, Kino maps and Fitshow)
The treadmills that are Bluetooth may also allow you to connect with heart rate bands. The bands take a more accurate reading of your heart rate than pulse plates and transfer this information to the monitor.
JLL Treadmills offers a 5-year motor cover, 2-year parts and labour and a lifetime warranty for all our home treadmills.
Top tips for setting up your home treadmill
- Build your treadmill in the desired location. As this is a large item when boxed, do not worry if you are unable to build where you would prefer it to stay, as all our treadmills are easily transportable.
- Ensure the treadmill is level. You can adjust the black feet on the stabilisers under the treadmill to ensure this.
- Avoid placing your treadmill in a damp room e.g., garage, where a tumble drier is. It could cause rust and will cause performance issues.
- Do not place your treadmill by a heat source e.g., radiator, boiler. The warming and cooling of the metal will cause the treadmill performance issues
- Make sure you maintain your treadmill every so often. Wiping the sweat off, cleaning any dust, and checking the assembled parts routinely.
- Have the treadmill connected to the main plug and not an extension lead.
Our home treadmills will require some form of maintenance to keep them running smoothly. The common maintenance to perform is to clean your machine after every use, make sure the area around your treadmill, is also clean and clear from obstructions, oil the running deck, tighten the running belt and check your connection wires. For full instructions on the treadmill, maintenance view our support document here – https://support.jllfitness.co.uk/download/Treadmill%20Maintenance.pdf
