7 Foods To Kill Testosterone
When people start getting interested in testosterone, they usually want to know about pills, potions or injections or maybe even T boosting foods. Here below are simple steps that anyone can do today and these simple steps will show you foods that cut testosterone.
There are a lot of articles and videos on foods that boost testosterone, but not as many on foods that reduce it. While some foods boost testosterone others decrease it. Research has highlighted foods that negatively affect testosterone, so you can cut these out of your diet or at least reduce them.
The first food is flax seeds, Flaxseed will cause problems for your testosterone. Flaxseeds are made up of large quantities of lignans and lignans imitate estrogen in the body. In research studies lignans have reduced testosterone and lowered 5 alpha reductase enzyme activity.
High PUFA Vegetable Oils
Another is high PUFA vegetable oils. Sunflower oil, flaxseed oil, canola oil, margarine etc…
The oils are extracted from plant seeds. The nutrient profile of these oil’s are not the same as the plants because they are taken from the seed, not from a fully grown plant.
The oils are high in fatty acids and one of those fatty acids is omega 6. This fatty acid is now consumed in large quantities in western diets and is known to increase inflammation.
Over100 years ago that wasn’t the case and a typical diet had similar amounts of both omega 6 and 3 in their diet.
Over time vegetable oil has crept into more foods and sent omega 6 intake through the roof.
With omega fatty acids using the same receptors, the body can only process so much fatty acid, so when someone is consuming a large volume of omega 6 there is less room for the receptors to process omega 3.
Omega-6 causes a huge increase in stress arising from oxidation of the system. This leads to inflammation, which in turn negatively affects T production.
In the early 80s, the omega 6 and 3 ratio was around 4:1. Today that’s climbed to 20:1.
Then there is Processed Carbs. Carbs like chips, white breads, pizza etc… they all play havoc with insulin and increasing insulin levels lowers testosterone.
